Yanga SC Head Coach, Miloud Hamdi, has expressed his delight with the spirit shown by his team following their emphatic 5-0 win over Dodoma Jiji in the NBC Premier League match played yesterday at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar.
Speaking after the match, Hamdi praised his players for their effort and for securing an important win, despite a slow start in the first half.
"I want to congratulate my players for this crucial win. We knew it wouldn’t be an easy match, and in the first half Dodoma Jiji gave us a tough time," said Hamdi.
The coach explained that tactical changes made during the second half paid off and he was pleased with how well his players executed the instructions they had practiced.
"We made changes in the second half. I’m happy with how every player fought hard. We gave opportunities to Mkude, Farid, and Shekhan — all played very well. Everyone is important in this team," he added.
Hamdi also took a moment to praise the Yanga fans who showed up in large numbers to support the team.
"The fans are part of this success. This win is theirs. They have been with us every step of the way, and they have every reason to celebrate," he said joyfully.
Yanga will remain in Zanzibar to prepare for the highly anticipated clash against their traditional rivals, Simba SC, set to be played on Wednesday, June 25, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
The win over Dodoma Jiji has put Yanga in a strong position to win this season’s NBC Premier League title, now sitting at the top of the table with 79 points, just one point ahead of Simba. Yanga only needs a draw or a win against Simba to clinch the title once again.
