Yanga’s team doctor, Moses Etutu, has confirmed that striker Prince Dube is recovering well after receiving initial treatment for the injury he sustained in yesterday’s Premier League match against Tanzania Prisons.
Dr. Etutu stated that Dube suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh. This was determined after an initial assessment, and the player is scheduled for further medical tests in Dar es Salaam tomorrow, Friday.
"Unfortunately, yesterday while trying to jump for a header, he sustained the injury in his thigh. The assessment we did revealed that the thigh muscles were significantly strained, causing him severe pain," said Dr. Etutu, adding:
"We started him on first-stage treatment and he’s responding well. Throughout yesterday and today, he’s been stable, and we expect to begin further scans once we return to Dar es Salaam."
Dr. Etutu noted that tomorrow’s scans will give a clearer picture of the injury and indicate how long Dube may be sidelined. However, he reassured Yanga fans that the star striker is expected to return to the field soon.
"At the moment he’s doing well. We’ve provided preliminary treatment that doesn’t rely on imaging, and he’s showing good signs. We’re hopeful everything will go well, and he’ll be back before our upcoming matches," he said.
Yanga’s squad has departed from Mbeya and returned to Dar es Salaam. They are expected to travel to Zanzibar to face Dodoma Jiji in their final round (30th) Premier League match, scheduled for Sunday, June 22, at the New Amaan Complex.
