Only three days remain until June 15, the scheduled date for NBC Premier League match number 184 between Yanga and Simba — a fixture that has sparked major controversy in Tanzanian football.
The match was originally set to be played on March 8, but the League Board postponed it without following the official rules and procedures governing football operations in the country.
So far, three conditions demanded by Yanga for them to participate in the match have yet to be confirmed as met or unmet.
Yanga’s position remains unchanged: if the League Board proceeds with the current schedule, they should not expect Yanga to show up on Sunday.
Furthermore, Yanga has warned they will not appear for the two remaining matches against Tanzania Prisons and Dodoma Jiji either.
More drastically, Yanga has stated that they will not participate in the NBC Premier League next season if the conditions are not fulfilled.
The conditions include: the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), the resignation of the Secretary General of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), and the dissolution of the 72-hour Committee.
If these demands are met, Yanga is willing to play match number 184 — but on a different date, not June 15.
