The president of Yanga Engineer Hersi Said has revealed that it was not easy to retain coach Migue Gamondi after the success he achieved last season
Speaking in a special interview in Jana na Leo program of Wasafi Fm, Hersi said Gamondi received many offers but later decided to stay in Yanga due to the quality of the squad he built
"Before signing a new contract, our coach Miguel Gamondi received many offers from other big clubs in Africa and he was promised a lot of money"
"But he chose to stay in Yanga because of the quality of the team we made. This our team can give him the greatest honor in Africa," said Hersi
Hersi has said that in this season's Champions League, Yanga has set the goal of reaching the quarter-finals as they did last season, however, he said if they succeed beyond that then it will be a gift from God
"Our goals in the Champions League this season is to reach the quarter-finals again. But in life God gives gifts, if we get the gift of reaching the Finals and taking the Championship then we will be grateful. Our target is the Quarter-Finals and we will fight to achieve that"
In another step, Engineer Hersi has thanked the Yanga GSM Trustee/Sponsor for his support every step of the way, asking members and fans of the team to thank him and pray for the billionaire for his support for the club
"If there is something that Yangana people should pray for to continue, it is the presence of GSM in our team, he has been supporting us in many things"
"For example, the other day at the Social Shield before dealing with some people, he came and asked us how the bonus budget was, when we told him it was not enough, he increased the amount because the players went to fight and we won" said Hersi
