The president of Yanga, Engineer Hersi Said, has said that his mission to ensure that Yanga owns the stadium is at a standstill and they are currently waiting for the completion of the Government's procedures so that they can start the process
Hersi made the statement yesterday while conducting an interview with the Swahili channel of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)
"We sent a request to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to request that we be given our area in the desert as well as add a little area so that we can build our stadium"
"In the General Meeting held in the sixth month of this year, we all heard our Minister of TAMISEMI Hon Mohammed Mchengerwa confirming that the Government has given the area and what is happening now is the process of obtaining 'documentation' that will give us the opportunity to continue"
"Let's remember that the area that carries the big project for the improvement of Msimbazi river is in the process of the Government, there are people who are being compensated and the process of action has already started and soon a contractor will be found who will be part of the project" /p>
"We are in the same steps to match the Government's speed of the sixth phase, when we will be handed the documents and we will give official information regarding the contractor along with the drawings," said Hersi Initially, Yanga had a plan to build a stadium in Kigamboni in the area handed over by the former governor of Dar es Salaam Mr. Paul Makonda, however after the Government accepted Yanga's request to increase the area in the desert where the Kaunda stadium was located, the plan was changed< /p>
The leadership of Yanga believes that the stadium being built in the desert is more beneficial for the club as it will attract investment and will be easily accessible by fans
