Yanga has defended its premier league title for the third season in a row after a 3-1 victory against Mtibwa Sugar in a game played at Manungu Stadium
Mtibwa Sugar took the lead through Charles Ilanfya early in the first half, however the quality of Yanga decided the match in the second half with goals from Kennedy Musonda, Clement Mzize and another goal being scored by Mtibwa Sugar's defender
Speaking after the 30th championship, Yanga Head Coach Miguel Gamondi has congratulated the players and management without forgetting the fans who have been side by side with the team since the beginning of the season
Gamondi has said that they have demonstrated in practice that they are the best team in Tanzania by beating all 15 teams participating in the NBC Premier League this season
"I congratulate the players, leaders and all citizens for this championship. It was not easy but with our unity and cooperation, we have succeeded"
"We have been champions with three matches in hand but we have also beaten all 15 teams participating in the league as the team that won all the matches at home so far"
"It is a record and a great honor for me as this is the first season. This is the success of Yanga as a team and not just me," said Gamondi
