The champions of the NBC Premier League Yanga Club will start its campaign in the preliminary stages of the Champions League by playing against Zalan FC of South Sudan.
Yanga will start away with the first game to be played between September 9 to 11 while the second leg will be played between September 16 to 18.
The overall winner between the clubs will play against the winner between the Champions of Ethiopia St. George or Al Hilal of Sudan.
Zalan, who are the champions of the South Sudan League, may use the Al Hilal stadium in their international matches due to Sudan Kusin not having a stadium that meets the criteria of CAF.
They are from the city of Rumbek located in the center of South Sudan, it was founded in 1999
Zalan participates in the Sudanese league which due to civil unrest has been managed under the supervision of the Government.
The team won the championship and qualified for the Champions League for the first time since it was founded in 1999
Zalan won the South Sudan Premier League for the first time in the 2021/22 season and also won the 2018 Confederation Cup.
They finished second in Group B in 2017 when Gonzaga lost 4-2 in the South Sudan national league 'SSNL' in Juba before winning the championship in 2018 by beating Gold Star 4-0.< /p>
The first season of the league was in 2013, one year after South Sudan declared independence
It is not a team with great history and success, but even so, Yanga should not 'take them for granted'.
