Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia has explained the plans for Taifa Stars to play friendly matches, saying the decision was made in line with the requirements of head coach Miguel Gamondi.
Karia said today’s scheduled friendly against FAR Rabat is part of Gamondi’s preparations, with the coach wanting to give more players in the Taifa Stars squad an opportunity to get playing time.
Speaking about the match, Karia said Gamondi wanted to ensure that no player returned from camp without getting an opportunity to demonstrate their ability on the pitch.
“The match against FAR Rabat was requested by the coach and had to be played on October 2, whether against a club or even Morocco’s U23 team, to give the players an opportunity. He did not want to return with a player who had not played,” said Karia.
Taifa Stars are expected to take on FAR Rabat today in a friendly match as part of the squad’s preparations.
According to TFF Director of Information and Communications Cliford Ndimbo, Taifa Stars are also expected to play another friendly match on October 5.
The matches are intended to give Gamondi an opportunity to assess his players in competitive action and evaluate the squad ahead of Taifa Stars’ upcoming assignments.
