Gomez joins Botswana National team

The former coach of Simba club Didier Gomes da Rosa has got the job of leading the national team of Botswana

The French coach has signed a two-year contract to lead the Botswana national team and his major role will be to lead the team to qualify for the 2025 African Nations (AFCON) Finals, which will be held in Morocco

Reliable news from Botswana states that Gomes has already started the job of leading the team and his first task will be two matches to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals, against Mozambique and Guinea which they will play next month

The coach who has not yet been officially introduced by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) in his new duties will be assisted by the former coach of the country's Township Rollers, Romain Folz

Da Rosa is remembered in the country for leading Simba to the quarter-finals of the African Champions League in the 2020/2021 season, which was eliminated by Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa by losing 4-3 in two matches between them

During his time in Simba, Da Rosa won one Premier League title, the Community Shield as well as the Azam Confederation Cup.
