Yesterday, striker Ibrahima Toure reminded his critics of his quality by scoring a goal that could be a contender for Goal of the Season.
He did so in the NBC Mainland Premier League match against Kagera Sugar at KMC Complex, where Toure came off the bench and scored despite playing for only about 15 minutes, helping Yanga secure a convincing 4-0 victory.
Despite getting limited playing time in the starting line-up, Toure has already scored three league goals and added two more in the CAF Champions League, taking his total to five goals across all competitions.
Toure is an experienced striker who spent a considerable period playing in the Arab world. That experience could prove valuable to Yanga as they enter the CAF Champions League group stage.
Unlike Peter Shalulile, who leads Yanga's scoring charts in the league with six goals, Toure has established himself as a striker who does not need many chances to find the back of the net.
He knows how to position himself in the right areas, making life difficult for opposing defenders because of his physical presence and style of play. Another major strength is his ability to use both feet.
Yanga appear to have plenty of options in attack this season, with Clement Mzize's return and the presence of Seleman Mwalimu adding further competition for places in the forward line.
