Yanga SC, one of Tanzania’s most decorated football clubs, are reportedly entering the race to secure the services of highly regarded African football coach Krunoslav Jurčić.
The Croatian is said to be the club leadership’s top choice as they seek to achieve greater success on the international stage.
Sources within Yanga SC indicate that behind-the-scenes talks have already begun between the club’s billionaire sponsor through GSM, and the coach’s representatives, with the aim of completing the deal as soon as possible.
Jurčić, who is currently a free agent after his contract with Egyptian giants Pyramids FC ended, is regarded as one of the continent’s leading coaches, known for his tactical discipline and strategic approach.
During his time at Pyramids, the 56-year-old coach reportedly guided the team to five major trophies in two years, including a historic CAF Champions League title in the 2024/25 season and the CAF Super Cup.
Jurčić could be a suitable choice for Yanga, as his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation aligns closely with the system the club used for many years before the arrival of Manqoba Mngqithi, who favoured playing with two strikers.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has previously described Jurčić as one of the proponents of modern football on the continent.
However, there has been no official confirmation of an agreement with Yanga so far, as the club continues its search for a new coach.
