Yanga attacking midfielder Albert Kangwanda endured a difficult start in yesterday's CAF Champions League match against CFFA, losing his composure in front of goal and missing opportunities that could have given Yanga an early lead in the first half.
Kangwanda sparked heated debate on social media, with some fans questioning whether he was giving 100 per cent for the Yanga badge.
However, the player himself appeared to recognise that he had not performed well in the first half of the match, which Yanga went on to win 4-0.
Yanga Media and Communications Manager Ali Kamwe has revealed that, after the players entered the dressing room at half-time, Kangwanda asked head coach Manqoba Mngqithi not to substitute him, requesting at least 15 minutes to return to the pitch and correct his mistakes.
That was exactly what the Zambian Premier League MVP from last season went on to do. He made the most of his first 15 minutes in the second half, scoring one goal and providing two assists to help Yanga secure a convincing victory in the first leg of their battle for a place in the CAFCL group stage.
However, Kangwanda was unable to finish the match after suffering an injury.
