The 90 minutes of the first leg in the battle to qualify for the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage have come to an end, with Yanga securing a convincing 4-0 victory.
The Wananchi have recorded a crucial win that puts them in a strong position to reach the group stage. They now need a win or a draw in the return leg, and must avoid losing by more than four goals when the two sides meet again on October 21 at Azam Complex.
Judging by their performance in this match, it would take something extraordinary to prevent the Wananchi from qualifying for the group stage.
Yanga could arguably have won by an even bigger margin, considering the number of chances they created, particularly in the first half.

Ibrahim Toure opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, capitalising on an error by the CFFA goalkeeper.
In the second half, Yanga continued to pile pressure on CFFA, whose players appeared to tire after enduring the onslaught in the opening period.

The Wananchi then added three more goals through Albert Kangwanda, who had missed a golden opportunity in the first half, while Mudathir Yahya and Maxi Nzengeli also got on the scoresheet.
Despite the emphatic victory, Yanga's attacking line clearly needs to be more clinical, having squandered numerous chances today, including approximately eight clear opportunities in the first half alone.
