Historical football giants in Tanzania, Yanga SC, in partnership with Safari Lager, have officially launched the third edition of the major talent identification campaign known as the ‘Safari Lager Cup’.
The partnership aims to provide opportunities for young footballers with talent from different parts of the country. This season’s campaign will be held in four regions: Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Mwanza, and Arusha.
The campaign targets young players aged between 18 and 23 who have not yet had the opportunity to play competitive football at higher levels.
Speaking during the launch, Yanga SC Chief Executive Officer Andre Mtine said the competition is part of the club’s strategy to invest in youth football and give young players an opportunity to pursue their dreams of becoming professional footballers.
Players who perform well will have the opportunity to be scouted by Yanga coaches and could even earn a place in the club’s youth team.
Safari Lager, the campaign’s main sponsors, reiterated their commitment to supporting the development of sports in Tanzania and urged young players to turn out in large numbers to register their teams through football association offices in the respective regions, giving themselves a chance to showcase their abilities and uncover new talent that could benefit the nation in the future.
