Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has expressed satisfaction with the way young players are beginning to compete for places in the first team, describing the development as an important part of building his squad.
Mngqithi named Abdulnassir Mohamed “Casemiro,” Juma Issa Abushiri “Chuga Boy,” Saleh Mahsen and Kazimoto among the youngsters who have started showing their ability to add value to the team.
Manqoba pointed out that having young players capable of competing for places gives the technical bench more options when selecting the squad.
This has become even more important this season, with Yanga facing a schedule that includes domestic competitions as well as their CAF Champions League campaign.
In addition to the youngsters, Yanga have strengthened their squad through the recruitment of several international players, including Housseine Zakouani, Albert Kangandwa, Cheikh Toure, Peter Shalulile, Farouk Komara, Fred Ngoma and Stephane Aziz KI.
Those players have joined stars who were already at the club last season, increasing competition for places across various areas of the pitch.
Mngqithi believes that competition can benefit the team because when the schedule becomes demanding, it is not easy to rely on the same starting XI in every match.
