Yanga SC have sent their condolences following the death of Mama Fatma Karume, who was a long-serving member of the club’s Board of Trustees.
Mama Fatma Karume passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 97.
In addition to her significant contribution to Yanga, Mama Fatma Karume is historically known as the widow of Zanzibar’s first President, the late Sheikh Abeid Amani Karume, who led Zanzibar following the 1964 Revolution.

- Special Honour: In recognition of her contribution, as well as that of her late husband, to the development of the club, the Yanga leadership under President Engineer Hersi Said established a tradition of delivering championship trophies to her home as a gesture of appreciation and respect.
