Yanga secured an important 1-0 victory over Geita Gold in an NBC Premier League match played at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
You could say the result was the most important thing for the Wananchi in a match they were forced to play with 10 men for more than 75 minutes after Stephane Aziz Ki was shown a red card.
Despite being a player down, Yanga dominated for much of the match and scored the only goal of the game early in the second half, with Farouk Komara heading home.
Yanga still lacked composure in the final third, with Seleman Mwalimu, Hussein Zakouane and even second-half substitute Clement Mzize coming close to scoring.
The final 10 minutes were difficult for Yanga. After playing with 10 men for such a long period, fatigue began to affect the players and allowed Geita Gold to take control of the game.
Despite creating several chances, Geita Gold were unable to find an equaliser, as Yanga took all three points and maintained their 100 percent winning record in the league.
The Wananchi remain at the top of the table with 18 points from six matches.
