Yanga have advanced to the first round of the CAF Champions League after securing a 2-1 victory over Gaborone United in the second leg at Azam Complex.
It was far from an easy match, as Wananchi had to wait until the final whistle to celebrate victory following intense competition in the closing stages.
Peter Shalulile opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing a pass from Selemani Mwalimu, who had been set up by Stephane Aziz Ki.
Yanga dominated the game for long periods and could arguably have gone into the break with more than one goal, with Mwalimu missing a clear opportunity.
In the second half, Gaborone United came out looking for an equaliser, while Yanga continued creating chances, only to be denied by the Gaborone goalkeeper.
After Aziz Ki and Peter Shalulile were substituted, with Hussein Zakouane and Albert Kangwanda taking their places, Mwalimu was left as the lone striker. This appeared to give Gaborone some relief, allowing them to grow into the game and take greater control.

However, it was Yanga who scored the second goal in the 83rd minute through Cheick Ibrahim Toure, who had come on for Mwalimu, finishing off good work by Kangwanda.
Gaborone scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute, and the goal undoubtedly increased the pressure on Yanga i
