Yanga striker Seleman Mwalimu ‘Gomez’ has called on the club’s fans to turn out in large numbers at Azam Complex tomorrow for the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round clash against Gaborone United.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match, Mwalimu said it is a great honour for him to be among the players who will fight for the Yanga badge in the crucial encounter.
He said all the players are ready and are taking the match very seriously because their qualification for the first round of the Champions League is at stake.
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the match, Mwalimu said they have had a good period of preparation on the training ground and expressed confidence in head coach Manqoba Mngqithi and his technical staff to analyse their opponents and provide the right tactics to secure victory.
“We are treating this match with the importance it deserves because it will determine our international future this season. Our technical staff have done a great job to ensure we develop the right plans. We have prepared well to make sure we get the victory. Our goal is to go as far as possible in this international competition.”
“Yanga currently have a great coach. He has already identified the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents. On the training ground, the coach and his technical staff have shown us how to play against them. The pressure we took to Botswana, we will bring it here at twice the intensity. I am confident that before the second half, we will have the right result.”
