Yanga SC is set to open a new historic chapter today as the club prepares to sign an agreement for the construction of a new modern 12-storey building, known as ‘Yanga Tower’, at the intersection of Mafia and Nyamwezi streets in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam.
The landmark signing ceremony is taking place today at the site, which holds special historical significance as the official birthplace of the country’s oldest football club, founded in 1935.
The 12-storey building is expected to feature modern facilities, including club offices, conference halls, Yanga sports merchandise stores (Yanga Megastore), as well as commercial spaces that will be leased out to generate additional revenue for the Jangwani-based club.
The club’s former headquarters, building number 59, which stood on the site, has already been demolished, while surveyors are currently carrying out assessments to pave the way for contractors to begin work immediately.
The development comes as the club is also progressing with plans to construct its new modern stadium at the Jangwani site.
