After a one-day break, the Yanga squad is expected to resume preparations today for the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie against Gaborone United.
The match will be played on Saturday, September 12, at Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
Speaking yesterday shortly after the squad returned from Botswana, Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi said a 1-1 away draw was not a bad result, but he wants his players to finish the job at home.
Despite his team dominating the match, Mngqithi said he was unhappy with certain aspects of their performance and promised to address them on the training ground.
“We are not in a bad position. If you look at the game, we are creating chances, but we need to have more hunger to take them. I accept that we are missing some chances, but we still need to improve our ability to create more opportunities than we are doing at the moment.”
“There are still challenges when it comes to creating attacks from the flanks. Many of the crosses are not accurate enough, while others are wasted. This is something that needs to be corrected, and we are continuing to work on it.”
“Apart from the flanks, we have started creating chances through the middle of the pitch, but we still need to improve the quality. Unfortunately, there are still some players we are developing who can give us more in that area,” Mngqithi said.
In the return leg, Yanga will need a victory to secure qualification for the first round.
