Yanga Head of Information and Communications, Ally Kamwe, has officially announced that this Saturday will be celebrated as ‘Sele Day’ ahead of their CAF Champions League return-leg clash against Botswana’s Gaborone United.
The preliminary round match is scheduled to be played on September 12 at Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam, with kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
Speaking to reporters shortly after Yanga’s squad returned to Dar es Salaam from Botswana, Kamwe said the club’s management had decided to dedicate the day to their striker, Seleman Mwalimu ‘Gomez’, who scored the crucial equaliser that rescued the team in the first leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw away in Botswana.
“On Saturday, we are heading to Azam Complex, and we have officially declared it ‘Sele Day’. To make the celebrations even more exciting and show our support for Seleman Mwalimu, we are asking all our fans who come to the stadium to bleach their beards or hair as a sign of solidarity,” Kamwe said.
Yanga go into the match with the advantage of an away goal, meaning any win or a goalless draw will see them advance to the next stage.
