Yanga’s Manager of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has said the team is fully prepared to make a strong start to their CAF Champions League campaign this season.
Yanga arrived in Botswana yesterday ahead of Saturday’s first-leg preliminary-round clash against Gaborone United.
Speaking shortly after arriving in the country, Kamwe assured Yanga members and fans that their team is in good shape and ready to fight for a positive away result that would put them in a strong position to qualify for the first round in the return leg.
Kamwe said they are aware of their opponents’ quality and understand that the match will not be easy.
“The team arrived safely here in Gaborone, and we received a warm welcome. There are also many Tanzanians living here. We have great support from the fans, while players such as Peter Shalulile and Stephane Aziz Ki are particularly well known among the local supporters.”
“We have come here to fight for a positive result. We know there are no easy games in the Champions League, which is why we made major signings to ensure we perform well in this competition,” Kamwe said.
After arriving in Botswana, coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s men immediately began intensive preparations for Saturday’s encounter.
Yanga’s strategy is to secure an away victory in the first leg and put themselves in a strong position to advance to the first qualifying round in the return leg.
