The arrival of Kagisho Dikgacoi on Yanga's coaching staff is already beginning to produce results, with the defending champions benefiting from his expertise in set pieces.
The 41-year-old Dikgacoi was appointed Yanga's set-piece coach in July 2026, joining head coach Manqoba Mngqithi's technical team for the 2026/27 season.
In their first three Tanzanian Premier League matches, Yanga have scored 11 goals, with four coming from set pieces — a clear indication that Dikgacoi's work is already making an impact.
In the 3-1 away victory over Namungo, Chadrack Boka scored after a short corner involving Albert Kangwanda and Housseine Zakouani. The resulting cross found Boka, who headed home in the 68th minute.
Against Coastal Union, Yanga won 4-1, with Mohammed Hussein "Tshabalala" scoring the final goal after combining with Boka from a short corner.
Even before that goal, Bakari Mwamnyeto came close to scoring for Yanga from a corner delivered by Kangwanda, but his effort went narrowly wide.
Two more goals from set pieces came against JKT Tanzania, with Bacca and Boka finding the net, while Kangwanda played an important role in initiating the attacking moves.
Vast Experience
Dikgacoi is no stranger to competitive football. He holds a CAF A Coaching Licence and has coached several teams in the South African league, including Royal Eagles, Witbank Spurs, Phezulu FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
At Witbank Spurs, he took charge of a team struggling at the time and successfully helped them avoid relegation. He also worked at Golden Arrows as an assistant coach under Mngqithi, giving him an opportunity to develop a strong understanding of tactical methods and technical-team management.
Before moving into coaching, Dikgacoi was an important member of the South African national team, Bafana Bafana, making 54 appearances and scoring two goals.
He represented South Africa at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. He is also remembered for providing the final pass for Siphiwe Tshabalala's historic opening goal for South Africa at the 2010 World Cup against Mexico.
