One of the areas where the Yanga leadership invested heavily during the recently concluded transfer window was the attacking department.
Yanga’s sponsor, GSM, committed significant funds to strengthen the area, with the aim of ensuring that no team gets an easy ride against them this season.
The attacking line has been revamped with the signings of Peter Shalulile, Cheick Ibrahima Toure and Selemani Mwalimu, while youngster Hussein Mihambo will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience from the established stars.
As if that were not enough, the attacking midfield department has also been strengthened with Stephane Aziz Ki, Albert Kangwanda and Hussein Zokouani, who have already shown their value to the squad early in the season.
Clearly, fierce competition is expected in the attacking department, as all the newly signed forwards possess the quality to earn a place in the starting XI.
While ‘Sele Gomez’ is expected to make his first appearance in the upcoming match against Coastal Union, Shalulile and Toure have already begun their battle for a starting spot.
In the Community Shield match against Simba, Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi started with Shalulile as the central striker. At half-time, he brought on Toure, with Shalulile moving out wide to play as a winger.
Against Namungo FC, Mngqithi started with both forwards, but substituted Toure after the break.
Sele Gomez has now joined the competition, bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm. His arrival gives Mngqithi even more options depending on the tactics he chooses for each match.
After watching Toure and Shalulile in action, Yanga fans will undoubtedly be eager to see Mwalimu get his opportunity in the upcoming match at KMC Complex.
