Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has expressed his delight at the hundreds of fans who turned out in large numbers to welcome the team to Lindi Region ahead of their Premier League clash against Namungo FC.
Yanga arrived in Ruangwa yesterday ahead of the match, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 15, at Majaliwa Stadium.
Speaking about preparations for the match, Mngqithi said the fans have continued to play an important role in motivating his squad and believes they will once again turn out in large numbers at Majaliwa Stadium.
Despite his team having limited time to prepare after travelling from Zanzibar, where they faced Simba in the Community Shield and secured a 1-0 victory, Mngqithi said he has confidence in the quality of his players and expects them to maintain their strong start.
"We have not had much time to prepare for Namungo, but based on how we have prepared since the derby, I believe we will maintain the same system, and I believe we will get a positive result."
"I am very happy to see our fans here in Lindi. I have always believed that they are our 12th player on the pitch. They really help us play with morale and energy when we are on the field. I would love to see them again tomorrow for our match against Namungo."
"I believe Namungo will come with confidence and will also defend when necessary. I know they have a very good coach, and I have known him since he coached the national team. So we will use our strengths and create our chances in order to win the match," said Mngqithi.
