Mngqithi Confident Yanga Can Beat Simba Despite Limited Pre-Season

Yanga SC head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has made it clear that his squad is ready for tomorrow’s Community Shield clash against Simba SC, which will be played on Wednesday, August 12, at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the match earlier today, Mngqithi said he believes in the quality of his squad and that his players are ready to fight to ensure they begin the new season with a victory.

The coach said their objective is to perform well in the match and bring joy to Yanga fans, who will be hoping to see their team perform strongly against their traditional rivals.

“We believe in the quality of our squad. Tomorrow, we are going to fight to bring happiness to our fans,” Mngqithi said.

Confidence in Squad Quality

Mngqithi acknowledged that Yanga did not have enough time for a proper pre-season, but said that has not affected their belief that they have a squad capable of competing with and beating Simba.

The coach said he has focused on the quality of the players at his disposal and believes they are capable of putting in a strong performance despite the challenge of limited preparation time.

“Despite not having enough of a pre-season, I believe my team has enough quality to win tomorrow’s match against Simba,” he said.

Promises Fans Entertaining Football

Coach Mngqithi also urged Yanga fans to have high expectations of his squad, insisting that the players at his disposal have the ability to play attractive and quality football.

He said fans should expect to see the team perform at a high level and give everything in the Community Shield encounter.

“With the players I have in the squad, the fans should expect quality and entertaining football. The fans will be happy,” Mngqithi said.

Unfazed by Derby Pressure

Regarding the pressure that comes with a derby between Yanga and Simba, Mngqithi said he has no concerns because of his extensive experience as a coach.

The coach said he has been involved in football for many years and has experienced numerous high-pressure matches, giving him the ability to handle such situations.

“I have 25 years of coaching experience, and I have never been troubled by the pressure of matches like this. I have the experience to handle the pressure,” he said.

The derby will be the first competitive match for Mngqithi and his technical staff, as well as his first competitive fixture since he joined the Wananchi last month.
