Tanzania Mainland Premier League record champions Yanga SC are set to take on DR Congo football giants Aigles du Congo in the headline match of this season's Yanga Day (Wiki ya Wananchi) celebrations for the 2026/27 campaign.
The climax of the annual event, one of the country's most anticipated football festivals, is scheduled to take place this weekend on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Preparations for the country's biggest football entertainment event have been completed, with Aigles du Congo already in Tanzania ahead of the match.
Yanga Day is more than just a football exhibition, as supporters will also witness the official unveiling of the club's new players and technical bench for the upcoming season.
Tickets are still available, with regular seats priced at TSh 20,000, VIP tickets at TSh 100,000, and Royal tickets selling for TSh 300,000.
Aigles du Congo won the DR Congo Premier League title in the previous season before finishing second behind TP Mazembe this season. The club was founded by prominent Congolese businessman and politician Vidiye Tshimanga Tshipanda after acquiring the league licence of Jeunesse Sportive de Kinshasa (JSK).
The Congolese side also held part of its pre-season training camp in Tanzania ahead of the new campaign.
