Yanga Linked With Feisal Salum Return as Club Targets Blockbuster Signing

There is growing belief that the mystery player Yanga officials have hinted could be signed before the transfer window closes is midfielder Feisal Salum, popularly known as "Fei Toto."

However, billionaire club sponsor GSM would likely have to spend heavily to complete the transfer of the midfielder, whose rise to prominence in Tanzanian football began during his time at Yanga.

Feisal still has one year remaining on his contract with Azam FC, and the Chamazi-based club reportedly considers him a key part of its plans. Reports suggest Azam would demand more than TSh 6 billion to allow him to leave.

After their attempt to bring back Stephane Aziz Ki failed, Yanga are believed to have shifted their focus to Feisal as they seek to strengthen their attacking midfield. At present, Allain Okello is the club's primary option in that position.

On Tuesday, Yanga Head of Information and Communications Ally Kamwe hinted at the signing of a player who, according to him, is currently training with another club despite not being their player. Kamwe added that the player's unveiling would coincide with the launch of Yanga's new kit.

The club spokesperson also revealed that the 2026/27 home kit will be officially unveiled by Friday, raising speculation that the mystery signing could be announced during the same event.

The delay has been interpreted as part of a marketing strategy, with Yanga potentially planning to unveil the player alongside the new jersey and release special edition shirts bearing his name, similar to promotional campaigns used by major European clubs.

When Juventus unveiled Cristiano Ronaldo following his move from Real Madrid, the club sold thousands of CR7 jerseys. Reports at the time claimed the shirt sales generated enormous commercial revenue.

A similar strategy was also employed by Paris Saint-Germain after signing Lionel Messi from Barcelona, with the club selling thousands of jerseys featuring the Argentine star's name.

Whether Yanga intends to adopt a similar approach remains to be seen, but club officials continue to insist that the player they are preparing to unveil will make headlines across the country.
