Yanga SC President Engineer Hersi Ally Said has outlined the club's major achievements during his four years in office, saying Yanga has written a new chapter in its history through domestic and international success, trophies, and record-breaking performances.
Speaking at the club's General Meeting, Hersi said the achievements were made possible through the collective efforts of the Executive Committee, club officials, and all Yanga stakeholders.
He said that during his four-year tenure, Yanga won a total of 16 trophies in domestic and international competitions, including four consecutive Tanzania Mainland Premier League titles under his leadership.
"During my four years in office, working together with the Executive Committee, Yanga has won a total of 16 trophies both domestically and internationally. We have won four NBC Premier League titles and set a record of five consecutive league championships, including the title we secured while I served as Vice Chairman of the Competitions Committee," Hersi said.
He added that the club's achievements have established a record of five consecutive Premier League titles, including one won during his time as Vice Chairman of the Competitions Committee.
Beyond the trophies, Hersi noted that Yanga has produced an outstanding Premier League record over the period, playing 120 matches, winning 101, drawing 12, and losing only seven. The club accumulated 315 points, scored 286 goals, conceded just 51, and finished with a goal difference of 235.
In the CRDB Federation Cup, Hersi said Yanga also made history by winning the competition four consecutive times. He added that the club played 28 matches over the five-year period, losing only once while remaining unbeaten in the other 27 matches. During that run, Yanga scored 86 goals, conceded 14, and kept 20 clean sheets.
Hersi also highlighted Yanga's success in other competitions, noting that the club won the Community Shield four times by defeating rivals Simba and Azam on different occasions.
On the international stage, he said Yanga were invited to compete in South Africa's Toyota Cup, where they claimed the title with a 4-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs. The club also won Rwanda's Rayon Day trophy after defeating Rayon Sports 3-1.
Concluding his address, Hersi thanked all the leaders he has worked with over the years, praising their contribution to the club's success and wishing everyone well ahead of the leadership elections.
"I would be happy if all the current leaders are re-elected, but I also recognize that there are many capable members who can lead Yanga. If the members believe another candidate is the right person for the job, they should elect them. I am ready to work with any member who is committed to the progress of our club," Hersi said.
