Yanga Head of Information and Communications Ali Kamwe has announced that the official launch of this year's Mwananchi Week celebrations will take place on August 4 in Katoro, Geita Region.
Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Kamwe said preparations for the event have been completed. He revealed that the hosts have allocated more than TSh 147 million for the occasion, which will feature entertainment as well as the club's long-standing tradition of serving supporters plenty of beef soup and grilled meat.
Kamwe also confirmed that the climax of Mwananchi Week will be held on August 9 at Uhuru Stadium. The annual event will be staged at the venue for the first time after Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was closed for ongoing renovations.
Ticket Prices
- Royal: TSh 300,000 β Includes the club's new season jersey signed by the player's choice, round-trip transportation between Serena Hotel and Uhuru Stadium, and refreshments.
- VIP: TSh 100,000.
- Regular (Mzunguko): TSh 20,000.
Kamwe urged Yanga members and supporters to purchase their tickets early, noting that Uhuru Stadium has a smaller capacity than Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, with only 19,000 regular tickets available.
He also revealed that Yanga's opponents for the Mwananchi Day match will be announced after the club's Annual General Meeting and elections, which are scheduled for August 2.
"After Yanga SC's Annual General Meeting on August 2, we will announce the team we will face on Mwananchi Day," Kamwe said.
He added that this year's event has become even more exciting because of Yanga's new signings.
"This season's Mwananchi Week festival has gained even greater value because of the players we have signed. For the first time, our supporters will have the opportunity to watch our new players in Yanga colors at Uhuru Stadium on August 9," Kamwe said.
