Yanga SC's Information and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has revealed that the club's two remaining foreign-player slots will be filled by what he described as more "top players."
While unveiling three foreign signings yesterday, Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said disclosed that the club had signed a total of five foreign players, who will join the seven overseas players already retained to complete the club's allocation of 12 foreign players.
Earlier today, Yanga confirmed that one of the remaining signings is a defensive midfielder, who is expected to be the next player officially unveiled.
Kamwe confidently stated that the club has secured one of Africa's outstanding midfielders, expressing belief that the new arrival will solve Yanga's need for a commanding defensive midfielder.
Regarding the second remaining foreign signing, Kamwe said the player's name has already been circulating among several footballers linked with a move to Yanga during the current transfer window.
One of the most prominent names linked with the club is attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki, who is currently contracted to Libyan side Al Ittihad. Aziz Ki remains in Tanzania as reports suggest Yanga are making strong efforts to bring him back to the club.
Other players previously linked with Yanga include striker Peter Shalulile. However, the likelihood of that move now appears slim following the club's announcement of the signing of striker Cheikh Ibrahima Touré.
Jean Claude Girumugisha was also linked with Yanga, but his chances of joining the Tanzanian champions appear unlikely after the arrivals of wingers Albert Kangwanda and Housseine Zakouani.
Among the names mentioned for the defensive midfield role are Nigerian midfielder Morice Chukwu and Tanzanian midfielder Alphonce Mabula. Meanwhile, reports have also linked Eswatini striker Justice Figuareido of Chippa United with a move to the club.
Yanga supporters are now eagerly waiting to discover the identities of the final two foreign signings who will complete the club's squad of 12 foreign players for the new season.
The foreign players confirmed to remain at Yanga for the upcoming campaign are Djigui Diarra, Yao Kouassi, Chadrack Boka, Maxi Nzengeli, Duke Abuya, Allan Okello, and Laurindo Aurellio "Depu."
