Defending Tanzanian champions Yanga turned up the heat in the transfer market overnight by completing the signings of three players in one announcement. Among them was Comoros international winger Housseine Zakouani.
The 28-year-old officially joined the Jangwani-based club on a two-year contract as a free agent after the expiration of his deal with Saudi Arabian First Division side Al-Zulfi.
Developed at Olympique Marseille
Unlike many players in the East African region, Zakouani arrives in Tanzania with a strong European football background.
Born in Marseille, France, the winger came through the renowned youth academy of Olympique Marseille, progressing through every age group from Under-15 to Under-23 before featuring for the club's reserve team, Marseille B.
After leaving Marseille, Zakouani continued his career with several clubs in France and Greece, including LB Châteauroux, Jura Sud, Hyères 83 FC, US Thionville Lusitanos, and Trikala FC. In early 2026, he moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Zulfi before securing his transfer to Yanga.
A Dynamic Attacking Threat
Zakouani is primarily a right winger but is also capable of playing on the left flank or as an attacking midfielder, giving the coaching staff valuable tactical flexibility.
Yanga's Information and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, described Zakouani as a "dangerous player who attacks like a bicycle," referring to his explosive dribbling, pace, direct style of play, and willingness to take on defenders.
His qualities have also been evident with the Comoros national team, where he has established himself as an important player in international competitions.
Zakouani is expected to provide Yanga with an ideal replacement for attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua, who is set to spend an extended period on the sidelines while recovering from injury.
