Yanga SC are continuing their efforts to secure the signature of Tanzania national team defensive midfielder Alphonce Mabula, with negotiations reportedly progressing positively.
Mabula, 23, has shown willingness to join the Tanzania Mainland champions, with the remaining step being an agreement on personal terms between the player and the club.
Reports indicate that both sides are discussing various contract details, particularly salary and other personal benefits. If an agreement is reached, Mabula will join Yanga ahead of preparations for the new competitive season.
The Tanzania international has gained valuable overseas experience after spending nearly four seasons playing in Europe. Before joining Azerbaijan club Shamakhi in January 2025, Mabula was part of Serbian side Spartak Subotica, which he joined in February 2022 from Alliance FC.
Besides Spartak Subotica, Mabula also played for RFK Novi Sad on loan during the 2024/25 season, gaining further experience in a competitive European football environment.
His ability to operate in different midfield roles is one of the qualities attracting Yanga. In addition to his defensive midfield duties, Mabula can also contribute to attacking build-up due to his tactical awareness and understanding of the game.
Although he is a domestic player, his international experience and exposure to competitive football outside Tanzania are believed to be key factors behind Yanga's interest in signing him.
If personal terms are successfully finalized, Alphonce Mabula is expected to become part of Yanga's squad for the new season as the club continues strengthening its team for domestic and international competitions.
