Yanga are continuing their efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season while also ensuring that key first-team players remain at the club.
The good news for Wananchi supporters is that versatile midfielder Duke Abuya will remain at Jangwani for a longer period after signing a contract extension.
Reports indicate that Abuya's previous contract with Yanga had one year remaining, but due to his increased value and importance to the team, club officials returned to the negotiating table and added another year, meaning he will now stay at Jangwani until 2028.
During the previous season, if Yanga were to award a Player of the Season prize, Abuya would arguably be among the strongest contenders for the honour.
Since joining Yanga two seasons ago from Singida Black Stars, Abuya's performances have continued to improve from one season to the next.
His ability to play in multiple positions proved valuable for Yanga last season. He was mostly deployed as a defensive midfielder, a role he handled effectively after taking over the position previously occupied by Khalid Aucho.
