Yanga SC have secured one of Tanzania's brightest emerging football talents after completing the signing of Juma Issa Abushiri, popularly known as "Chuga Boy."
Born on May 20, 2008, in the Arusha Region, Abushiri is an attacking midfielder who is equally comfortable playing on the right wing. Despite his young age, he has already displayed exceptional ability, leading many to regard him as one of the future stars of Tanzanian football.
Chuga Boy is renowned for his pace, dribbling skills, and ability to beat defenders while creating scoring opportunities. His exciting style of play has earned him the nickname "Chuga Messi," with many fans comparing his flair to that of football legend Lionel Messi.
His football journey began at Future Stars Academy, where his talent became evident from an early age. At just 12 years old, he caught the attention of Fountain Gate FC scouts during the Chipukizi Cup, earning a move to the club to continue his development.
After being promoted to Fountain Gate FC's senior team, Chuga Boy enjoyed an impressive debut season in the 2025/26 Tanzania Mainland Premier League. His performances earned him the league's Player of the Month award for October 2025 after scoring two goals and emerging as one of the competition's standout young players.
His outstanding form attracted interest from scouts representing clubs across Africa and Europe, underlining both the quality of his talent and his potential for a successful international career.
In addition to his club achievements, Juma Abushiri has represented Tanzania at youth level with the U-17 national team, the Serengeti Boys, and has also been part of the country's U-20 squad.
Yanga completed the signing of Chuga Boy while he was preparing to travel to Belgium for a trial with KAA Genk. The move, which had been scheduled for July 12, 2026, was halted after the Tanzanian champions stepped in to secure his services.
Yanga are expected to provide the teenager with an even bigger platform to showcase his talent and further increase his value as one of the country's most promising young footballers.
