Yanga are in the final stages of completing the signing of Eswatini international Justice "Figa" Figuareido from South African club Chippa United.
Personal terms between Yanga and Figuareido have already been agreed, while the Tanzanian champions have also reached an agreement with Chippa United over the transfer fee.
The deal for the versatile forward, who can also play as an attacking midfielder or winger, is expected to be finalized early next week, after which he will join Yanga's squad in Dar es Salaam.
Figuareido is a regular member of the Eswatini national team, for whom he has scored four goals in 28 appearances. Last season with Chippa United, he scored two goals and provided five assists.
Why Figuareido?
Following the departure of Prince Dube, Yanga have been searching for a forward with a similar skill set—or one capable of offering even more. Dube's value to the team extended beyond his goal-scoring, thanks to his overall contribution to the attack.
Last season, Figuareido was directly involved in seven league goals in South Africa's top flight, a competition widely regarded as one of the strongest on the continent. He is capable of creating chances for teammates while also operating effectively as an attacking midfielder when required.
His expected partnership with Laurindo Aurelio "Depu" could provide Yanga with a balanced attacking combination, as Depu is a striker who thrives on quality service and created opportunities.
Before joining Chippa United, Figuareido played for Richards Bay, where he scored five goals and registered one assist. He also scored twice for Eswatini during their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which concludes today with the final between Argentina and Spain in the United States.
