Following the expiry of his contract, Yanga are reportedly in discussions with veteran midfielder Salum Abubakar, popularly known as "Sure Boy," over a new deal.
Senior officials within the reigning Tanzanian champions are said to have recommended that Sure Boy be offered a contract extension despite his limited role in the first team.
Although he made only a handful of appearances last season, Sure Boy remained an influential figure in the dressing room, providing leadership, motivating his teammates, and helping to keep the squad united during difficult moments.
After Yanga's final league match against JKT Tanzania, the club's Information and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, revealed that Sure Boy played a vital role at half-time by encouraging the players to return with renewed determination following the serious injury suffered by attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua.
Reports suggest that Sure Boy has a strong chance of signing a new contract and remaining with the Tanzanian champions, despite attracting interest from several clubs seeking his services.
