The Tanzanian football community, particularly Young Africans SC (Yanga) supporters, has been left in shock following the death of former Yanga goalkeeper Clause Kindoki, who was killed in a road accident in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).
Kindoki passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in DR Congo, just hours after the conclusion of an FA Cup match.
According to Nestor Mutuale, the former manager of striker Fiston Mayele, Kindoki was serving as the goalkeeping coach of Bustras. The team had just secured a 2-1 victory over Et Dauphin of Goma in a match played in Kinshasa.
Mutuale said that after the match, Kindoki did not travel back with the team bus alongside the players and coaching staff. Instead, he chose to ride on a motorcycle taxi, where he was later involved in a fatal accident with a cargo truck.
Clause Kindoki is remembered for his time at Yanga SC, where he served as one of the club's goalkeepers before returning to DR Congo, where he continued contributing to the development of football as a goalkeeping coach.
His passing is a significant loss to his family, friends, and the football communities of both DR Congo and Tanzania.
Kindoki joined Yanga in 2018 after signing from AC Leopards of DR Congo under then-head coach Mwinyi Zahera.
He arrived at the club alongside striker Heritier Makambo and spent one season with Yanga before returning to DR Congo.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
