As the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup prepares to kick off on July 24 in Rwanda, Tanzania Mainland champions Young Africans (Yanga) will not take part in the regional tournament.
The tournament draw is scheduled for Friday, July 10, with Tanzania's Simba SC and Singida Black Stars already confirming their participation, alongside Zanzibar's KVZ FC.
Yanga, who have won the Tanzania Mainland Premier League title for five consecutive seasons, received an official invitation to compete but opted to decline due to their pre-season plans.
While celebrating the club's latest league triumph, Yanga President Hersi Said provided an update on preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Hersi revealed that the club has already received invitations to participate in two separate international pre-season tournaments. He also indicated that Yanga could take part in another pre-season competition that may be held in Zanzibar.
However, the club has yet to officially announce its full pre-season schedule, as the management continues working on restructuring the technical bench and is expected to appoint a new head coach in the coming days.
