Tanzanian Mainland champions Yanga SC are reportedly in talks to sign Ugandan midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga, who currently plays for Oakland Roots in California, United States.
Yanga previously attempted to sign Byaruhanga two seasons ago while he was at Vipers FC, but the midfielder opted to move to the United States instead after receiving an attractive offer. Reports now suggest that Yanga attacking midfielder Allan Okello is playing a role in convincing his fellow Ugandan to join the club.
According to reports from Uganda, cited by one of Vipers FC's senior players, Byaruhanga has been in contact with Okello to learn more about life in Tanzania and what it is like to play for Yanga.
"Bobosi could join Yanga. I've seen him speaking with Allan (Okello), asking about life at the club. Yanga officials have approached him because they want to sign him, although the deal has not yet been finalized," said one of the Vipers players, who is also a friend of Okello.
"I asked him about it, and he said the talks are progressing well. Allan told him that life at Yanga is very good, that he has been warmly welcomed, the club pays well, and both the management and supporters have a good relationship with the players."
During the 2024/25 season, Byaruhanga was heavily linked with both Yanga and Simba before ultimately choosing to continue his career in the United States.
However, the midfielder is now believed to be open to returning to African football after his spell in the United States did not go as he had hoped.
