Yanga SC management is continuing the process of finding a new head coach to replace Pedro Goncalves, it has been confirmed.
Earlier reports suggested that the Tanzanian Mainland champions were in talks with former Raja CA coach Fadlu Davids, but it is now understood that negotiations have collapsed.
According to South African football analyst and journalist Ayabonga Mthembu, the two parties failed to reach an agreement over bonus-related terms.
Yanga are now continuing their search for Goncalves’ successor, with a new appointment expected to be announced by the end of this week.
Meanwhile, the club has not yet officially dissolved its interim technical bench led by coaches Abdihamid Moalin and Patrick Mabedi, who are still awaiting clarity on their future ahead of the new season.
Moalin and Mabedi oversaw Yanga in the final seven matches of the season, losing two games — one in the NBC Premier League against Dodoma Jiji and another in the CRDB Cup semi-final against Azam FC.
Despite those setbacks, they successfully guided Yanga to their fifth consecutive league title, meeting the club’s main objective for the season.
