Yanga left-back Mohamed Hussein, popularly known as “Zimbwe Jr,” lifted his first-ever NBC Premier League title since joining the historic Tanzanian giants.
The title marked Yanga’s fifth consecutive league championship after their 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania, and it also became the club’s 32nd league title in their history.
Zimbwe Jr was part of the squad that secured this historic achievement, playing a role in yet another dominant season for the Wananchi.
However, this championship carried extra emotional weight for the defender, who appeared visibly moved during the celebrations, reflecting on his journey since joining Yanga from Simba SC last season.
Zimbwe Jr spent around 10 years at Simba before making the controversial switch to Yanga, a move that brought significant off-the-pitch challenges.
His agent, Carlos Sylvester—also known as Carlos Mastermind—was seen in tears of joy during the celebrations, while also revealing the emotional struggles both he and the player endured after leaving Simba.
According to him, Zimbwe Jr went through a very difficult period marked by psychological pressure, heavy criticism, insults, and even threats, all stemming from his decision to change clubs.
The agent added that the defender often broke down in tears during their conversations due to the emotional burden, especially given his long service and captaincy at his former club.
Ultimately, it was a deeply personal moment of vindication for Zimbwe Jr, as he silenced critics who doubted his success at Yanga.
He has now won three trophies with Yanga, including the Community Shield and Mapinduzi Cup, alongside this league triumph.
