After their narrow 3–2 defeat to Azam FC in the CRDB Cup semi-final, Yanga SC have left Mwanza and returned to Dar es Salaam before heading to Zanzibar for their next Tanzania Mainland Premier League fixture.
The two sides will meet again on Wednesday at New Amaan Complex Stadium, just days after playing 120 intense minutes in the cup encounter that ended in Azam FC’s favour.
This time, Yanga will be fighting for maximum points as they aim to strengthen their position in the league title race.
Only three matches remain before the end of the season. After facing Azam FC, Yanga will return to Dar es Salaam to complete their final two fixtures against TRA United at KMC Complex and JKT Tanzania at Isamuhyo.
Yanga SC Communications Manager Ali Kamwe has urged the team to quickly put the cup defeat behind them and fully focus on Wednesday’s crucial league match.
"Wananchi, we still have three matches left to finish the Premier League. We are currently at the top with a two-point lead. One mistake could put us in danger of losing our league title," said Kamwe.
"Let’s lift our heads and start preparing strongly for Wednesday’s match in Zanzibar. The same opponent who defeated us here in Mwanza will face us again for 90 minutes at New Amaan Complex."
"Our players need us very much on Wednesday. Whether you are in the mainland, Pemba or Unguja, let’s all meet at New Amaan Complex. We must unite and go with one spirit — to win. It is a do-or-die match," he added.
