Yanga head coach Abdihamid Moalin has expressed strong confidence that his strikers Prince Dube and Laurindo Aurélio “Depu” will return to top form in the remaining matches of the season following encouraging performances with their national teams.
The duo has gone through a long goal drought, with Dube stuck on nine goals and Depu on six.
During the FIFA international break, Dube travelled to Zimbabwe on national duty, where he scored the only goal in a victory against India.
Depu, meanwhile, featured for Angola, scoring and providing an assist in a 3-0 win over the Central African Republic.
Coach Moalin believes the goals scored at international level will be crucial in restoring confidence and helping the forwards regain their scoring touch at club level.
“It is a positive step. We have seen them start scoring again. As a coach or someone who loves this club, you are happy to see that. I think now is the right time for them to return with confidence after scoring for their national teams,” he said.
“They will come back motivated, and we will continue to trust them as before because they are our strikers. In football, such phases are normal—sometimes form dips, but it does not last forever. You always come back stronger.”
“We have five tough matches left to finish the season. We are happy that everyone has returned safely and performed well,” Moalin added.
Yanga are currently in Kigoma ahead of their Mainland Premier League clash against Mashujaa FC, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at Lake Tanganyika Stadium.
