Yanga SC is in the process of strengthening its squad ahead of the upcoming season, with reports indicating that the club’s management has placed strong emphasis on recruiting new players in three key areas: defence, midfield, and attack.
According to reports, Yanga is targeting one local centre-back, two defensive midfielders, two attacking midfielders in the number 10 role, as well as wingers. The club also aims to sign two strikers—one local and one foreign.
In the defensive midfield position, Yanga has placed special focus due to the gap left by Khalid Aucho, who departed after his contract expired. The club’s management believes they have yet to find a player who matches Aucho’s level and influence, prompting increased investment in that area.
In defence, Yanga is looking to add one local centre-back to strengthen competition and stability. The current defenders include Ibrahim Abdullah “Bacca”, Dickson Job, Bakari Mwamnyeto, and Frank Assink.
Reports suggest that if a local centre-back is signed, the club could part ways with Assink in order to free up a foreign player slot for reinforcements in other areas.
In attacking midfield, Yanga is targeting a number 10 who can complement Allan Okello, who has already begun to show strong performances. The management believes competition in that position will raise the overall quality of the team.
On the wings, Yanga has acknowledged long-standing challenges over several seasons, with some previously signed players failing to deliver expected performances. The club is therefore looking to bring in a fast winger capable of creating chances for strikers.
Additionally, Yanga plans to sign two strikers to strengthen their attacking line. The club is back in the market for a high-quality forward, despite the challenges of securing top-level strikers due to high transfer costs.
