During the mid-season transfer window, Yanga made a strong effort to sign Angola international winger Gelson Dala, who currently plays for Al Wakrah in Qatar.
Yanga's plan was to bring in both Laurindo Aurélio "Depu" and Dala, but they ultimately succeeded in securing only Depu's signature.
After failing to land Dala, the Tanzanian champions moved quickly in the closing stages of the transfer window and signed Buba Jammeh instead, following a recommendation from former head coach Pedro Gonçalves.
Gonçalves had specifically requested the signings of Depu and Dala because they were players he had worked with successfully during his time as head coach of the Angola national team.
However, Yanga's interest in Dala remains strong, and there is a high possibility that the winger could join the club during the upcoming major transfer window, which is set to open next month.
Yanga and Dala had already reached an agreement on personal terms. The main obstacle that prevented the transfer from being completed during the mid-season window was the transfer process with his current club, Al Wakrah, which was not prepared to release the player at that time.
