Yanga SC fans have reason for optimism after striker Clement Mzize showed significant progress in his recovery from injuries that have sidelined him for much of the season.
Mzize has already begun gym training as part of the final stages of his rehabilitation. However, the Yanga management has no intention of rushing his return to competitive action, preferring to give him enough time to fully regain fitness and avoid the risk of re-injury.
The strikerโs injury journey began during the CHAN tournament held in August 2025 across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. While featuring for Taifa Stars, Mzize suffered a knee problem that ruled him out of several early-season matches for Yanga.
After treatment and rehabilitation, he managed to return to action, but unfortunately the injury flared up again, forcing him back to the sidelines. Despite this setback, further medical efforts saw him recover once more, and he made a brief appearance in a CAF Champions League match against FAR Rabat in Morocco.
However, his condition worsened after that match, and the injury recurred. As a result, Yanga decided to take extra measures by sending him to South Africa for specialized treatment, where he underwent another knee surgery to address the problem more permanently.
His recovery is now progressing well, and he is only a few steps away from returning to full team training. However, club officials believe there is no need to rush his comeback, especially given his injury history over the past year.
According to his recovery plan, Yanga supporters are expected to see Mzize back on the pitch during pre-season preparations for the new campaign, where he will gradually rebuild his sharpness before returning fully to competitive football.
