Yanga SC captain Bakari Mwamnyeto has called on the club’s supporters to stand firmly behind the players during this crucial stage of the season as they push to defend their league title.
After missing the match against JKT Tanzania, Mwamnyeto returned to the squad in the recent 3–0 victory over Singida Black Stars, coming on to replace Frank Assink.
He also explained the reason behind his request for rest, following events that occurred in the match against Dodoma Jiji.
"I asked to be rested because my father is here and he is sick. I wanted time to pray for him and stay with my family as he was going for an operation. That is the reason I did not play that match (against JKT Tanzania)."
"Yanga are the players, and we are the ones on the pitch. When you insult a player, you break their confidence. I am used to such criticism, but a young player like Ninju or Casemiro could lose confidence and struggle to perform."
"The Wananchi are our supporters and this is their team. I love them and they love me too, so we must stick together in these final six matches to defend our championship," said Mwamnyeto.
