Yanga head coach Abdihamid Moalin has expressed full confidence in team captain Bakari Nondo Mwamnyeto, saying he will continue to support him because of his importance to the squad.
Moalin made the remarks following what happened in Singida during the Premier League match against Dodoma Jiji, where Mwamnyeto scored an own goal while attempting to clear danger from his own area. The incident led to heavy criticism of the defender on social media.
Moalin said mistakes are part of human life, and anyone who fears making mistakes cannot show their full potential or confidence on the pitch.
โEveryone knows Bakari Mwamnyeto is a great and respected player, not only at Yanga but in Tanzanian football in general,โ he said.
โI cannot question his ability because it is clear to anyone who follows football. Mistakes are part of human life, not just football. If you are afraid of making mistakes, you cannot show your quality or confidence on the pitch.โ
โEven great players around the world make mistakes, but what sets them apart is how they respond and fight back stronger. Bakari is a leader on and off the pitch. He has great experience, always fights for the team, and his contribution to Yanga is very significant.โ
โWe have full confidence in him and we continue to support him because we know his ability and what he can bring to this team,โ Moalin added.
